Like all online accounts, Facebook personal profiles are susceptible to hacking. This can lead to significant impacts on your business Facebook page and subsequently your brand, website traffic, and sales. On Thursday, Sept. 3, the JB Media Institute is hosting a free webinar on the topic of Facebook business page security.

How Facebook Hacking Puts Your Business at Risk

Many of us have seen unusual behavior from a friend’s Facebook profile, often in the form of spammy looking promotional messages with several people tagged. A hacked personal profile can easily lead to the hijacking of any and all business pages that you manage. Once they have access to your personal profile, hackers can easily add themselves as admins on your business pages, change the password to your profile, and lock you out. Then, once they log into their own account, they can use their new admin status to remove you and your other admins from your business pages. Recovering your personal profile is fairly easy; however, getting your business pages back can be a real headache and take far longer than you might expect.

How to Protect Your Facebook Business Page

Every week, as part of the online JB Media Institute, we provide a weekly live teleconference or webinar to discuss current trends, topics, and tips in Internet marketing. On September 3, we are excited to invite a larger audience to join our students and instructors in a discussion of Facebook business page security.

For this webinar, we will review a case study of a local business that experienced a full takeover of their business Facebook page by hackers, who gained access via a personal profile. We will also discuss the simple steps that can be taken to help prevent this type of frustrating, disruptive, and potentially costly situation.
